GPS/SatNav - howto and how not to use it.

As my colleague put it; the reason for SatNav/GPS being invented, is that Real Men do not ask for directions.

Well, that seems quite likely. But I should think it would be wise to actually keep your eyes open as well.

GPS systems need to be updated quite often if they are to be trusted to know of all the latest changes in roads and routes. Something this fella seems to have forgotten… The thing is, he was driving happily along, trusting his SatNav to the fullest, not bothering with minor details like watching for roadsigns. So he missed the, what 10 or so, roadsigns telling him that the valley he was driving into had been recommissioned as an artificial lake.

Or this guy. Who managed to get stuck with his trailer on a footpath, twice in the same day. Again, despite huge roadsigns.

So the morals here are: If you are driving by SatNav; for cryin’ out loud: Do NOT forget to watch the road ahead of you. Things like road changes, best routes for huge vehicles, and little children in front of your car, tend not to be notified on the SatNav. Oh, and don’t fall asleep. Stop and have a nap instead:)
